Artist's Comments

For my Projects in Illustration class, cover for the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. The scene is just as Santiago has sold his sheep and is setting out towards his new life. The flowers on the bank are narcissus flowers.. if you read the book you'll find out why :)

This is a amazing cover picture, I love how you made the light earthy colors blend together. The light setting is wonderous~

I must read that book someday, is it a good story? xD

Nice job re-designing the cover! I didn't read the book though. It seems like being stuffed with symbolism. Coelhos books are popular... well.
In Germany, the cover looks rather boring. It's only the photo of a pair of eyes, with hints that the face is covered by something like a burqa. I like this much better.
The little details in the foreground are neat, and together with the blending of the colours to yellow in the background, the motive gives a really beautiful atmospheric feeling.

That book is one of my favourites, I love it.

And I love this also. Great job

OMG I read that book in midle school and I have to say that I really do like it, the final was a litte ugly (for me) but the book is great.
For Paulo Coelhos books I like more Brida and the demond & Miss Prym.
However Paulo isn´t my favorite writer, there is a spain men called Carlos Ruiz Zafón that men there books are really cool.
If you wanna read a book of him I will recomend one that has a dark green cover with a ligthhouse and a ship (in spanish is called "El príncipe de la niebla" but I don´t know how it´s call in english sorry)
About the ilustration I think that yours is better than the one that the book have, the colors are pretty smoot and soofts and it gives you an idea of what´s the book about so..GREAT JOB as always

Curious about who this Tanake Trang is?

Wonderful cover! Fits the theme and mood of the book very well.

The Alchemist has to be one of my most favorites novels of all time; whenever I lose sight of what I really want to do in life or if I begin to feel down, I just read it and my vision clears up and I feel happier. =]

I have to say, if I saw this cover in the book store, i would definitely take a good look at it (even if I have never read the book, but I am wanting to know what it's about). All the covers I've seen of the book are... less than interesting. As a designer and artist, you've definitely done your job!

I hope you do great on this assignment! Really, it's tons better than that other crap they call covers I see in bookstores.
