It's mainly that I can't get used to the weird rasterization in Painter. Everything looks HORRIBLY pixelated to me. Also, even when I'm working with a huge file size, it comes out too messy...I can't seem to get a lot of detail in, and if I size the brushes down, they become impossible to use. The brushes all behave like traditional media, for the most part, but not in a way I understand. I also feel a big loss of control with the opacity. Turning the opacity of a brush down doesn't seem to do anything, and it seems like it's either 100% opacity or none at all, no matter how softly I press.
It's...kinda frustrating :< But I'm determined to get better at it.
For me, the Oils (not the Artists' Oils) brushes with a few modifications worked well. You might want to try Artists' Oils; I know the opacity is affected there if you adjust it. (At least it worked that way in 9, I'm not sure about 10.
I've been using regular oils, artists oils are a little glazey for me, but I can try adjusting the brushes. I'm so scared of screwing them up and not being able to get the defaults back >.> I definitely think the brushes are easier to deal with in PS...
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Make your own, then! It's so much more convenient than trying to adapt to what the program presets have.
