This is Welue...you probably won't recognise her. In the last year she's transformed from a hair-phobic white girl with a height problem to a tall, lanky and severe-looking woman of unknown ethnic origins with gobs and gobs of golden curls. I enjoy revamping my characters and looking at them from different perspectives...the tone of this piece (I feel) reflects her personality better than I've managed before.
The crown is new too...I had a lot of trouble drawing different headpieces for each occasion, and realised that a nice old-fashioned crown would be better. Not exactly understated, but in a pinch, functional as an impromptu boomerang. I was inspired partially by Ursula's crown from The Little Mermaid
This was painted without any references, but when I was designing the dress, I had in mind a sort of kimono-meets-ballgown-meets-sci-fi. And since I spent a good bit of this week studying cellophane's effects on light distortion I designed a plastic-packing-wrap corset.
I often wish I had tapered fingers. My hands aren't really mannish, (well I hope not o.O) but I think they could be a bit moer... lady like. Lol HAND EMOS!
The hands are also very well done- I find drawing hands clasped together a real bitch.
